Designing our own kitchen gave so much freedom in creativity. When we first walked into this space, I said “well I don’t feel bad ripping everything out!” Because that was just what we wanted to do, to make it our own. The day we closed on the house, demo began!
The Work –
- Gutted
- Cut out the stippled ceilings and put up all new drywall (the longest process of mudding, sanding and painting)
- Removed the garden window, resized the opening to accommodate more cabinet space and filled in with a casement window
- Ripped out the vinyl and carpeting and replaced with hardwood
- Installed new cabinets, countertops, stove, range hood, sink and faucet, built in microwave and dishwasher
- Tiled the back wall with a 6×6 white subway tile
- Mounted oak floating shelves
- Wired in wall sconces and new lighting
