I can’t even believe the progress we’ve made in just a couple month’s time, especially because it was during the holidays! Some major decisions went down such as choosing flooring, baseboards, trim, paint, kitchen cabinets, and appliances! We even reconstructed the fireplace. I know, right? Big things happenin’. Doing the work ourselves (A LOT of help from the family) is definitely what allows us to be so productive in so little time. I’m proud of what’s come so far, here’s a glimpse of the updates –
LIVING ROOM

Fresh paint made a HUGE impact in this room! The ceilings were such a drag, but a few coats of white made all the difference. I’ve always loved the look of a contemporary concrete fireplace and I knew this was just the room to do it because it would really compliment the vaulted ceilings. We need to get one more coat of concrete on the hearth, and then we will be in good shape. I am currently on the hunt for a tall, narrow log holder for the fireplace. I love the idea of this one.
DINING ROOM

Say hello to our french oak hardwood! We will be continuing this flooring throughout the entire house. The tone of the wood brings warmth to the room and pairs perfectly with the bright white walls. These baseboards are 5″ thick and I’m so happy with how they look in this here! YES people, baseboards do matter.
KITCHEN

OK, so the kitchen was actually straight out the 70’s. A total gut job. Currently, we’ve got our ikea cabinets installed and are waiting on the fronts and back panels from semi handmade! BLACK lower cabinets and open shelving against the back wall! See the inspiration for the kitchen here. I’m going to do a full post on the kitchen design soon, stay tuned!
